Your itinerary includes an extra day at Mawenzi Tarn for acclimatization. You can take a hike up to Mawenzi to enjoy the stunning views.

Day 5
Start your day with an early wake-up call and enjoy a wholesome breakfast to fuel up for the day's trek. The route may include climbing the renowned lava tower area and then descending to the Barranco campsite. During the day, you will trek east into a semi-desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower, where you will reach an altitude of 4630m after about 5 hours of walking. Lunch will be served in a designated area before ascending the rocky scree path to Lava Tower (4630m). This is the most challenging day of the trek, and it's normally around this point where some climbers may start to feel symptoms of breathlessness, irritability, and headaches for the first time. After lunch, you will descend again by almost 680m to the Barranco camping area, and after reaching the high altitude of 4600m at Lava Tower, the true acclimatization benefit of this day will become clear. This descent to Barranco camp takes about 2 hours and offers excellent opportunities to take some beautiful photographs of the Western Breach and Breach Wall. The camp is situated in a valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall, which should provide you with a memorable sunset while you wait for the preparation of your dinner and overnight at Barranco camp. Altitude: 3,840 m – 3,960 m Hiking distance: 11 km Hiking time: 7–8 hours

Day 6
Begin your day early with a refreshing wake-up call and a nourishing breakfast to prepare for the day's trek. The trek involves ascending the famous Barranco Wall, which is a steep but exhilarating section of the route. Once you've conquered the Barranco Wall, you will descend into the beautiful Karanga Valley, a scenic area with lush vegetation and stunning landscapes. Upon reaching the Karanga campsite, our porters will take care of setting up tents and arranging the campsite while our chef prepares lunch. After enjoying your meal, you will have the opportunity to go on an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, ascending 200 meters in altitude, followed by a descent back to the campsite. In the evening, the camp's chef will prepare a hot meal for you. After dinner, your experienced guide will provide a briefing for the next day's trekking, discussing the route, challenges, and any important information. Altitude: 3,960 m – 4,035 m Hiking distance: 5 km Hiking time: 5 hours

Day 7
Begin your day early with a wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel your body for the upcoming trek. Head towards Barafu campsite, which involves a mix of terrains, including rocky sections and gradual slopes. As you hike, you'll be captivated by the stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and Kilimanjaro's high-altitude terrain. Remember to acclimate to the increasing altitude as you ascend towards the Barafu campsite. Take your time and listen to your body to avoid altitude-related issues. Once you arrive at the campsite, our dedicated porters will take care of setting up your tents while our chef prepares lunch. After a satisfying meal, rest up until dinner. In the evening, your experienced guide will conduct a summit briefing, providing essential information about the upcoming summit attempt. The guide will discuss the route, challenges, safety measures, and necessary preparations. After dinner, try to get as much rest as possible, as you will be starting the summit ascent in the late evening. Altitude: 4,035 m – 4,640 m Hiking distance: 5 km Hiking time: 5 hours

Day 8
After waking up around 23h30, you will have some tea and biscuits before starting your climb towards Stella Point on the crater rim. The climb will take about 6 hours and will be challenging both physically and mentally. At Stella Point (5685m), you will take a short break and witness a breathtaking sunrise (if the weather permits). From there, the climb to Uhuru Peak will take about 2 hours and will involve walking through snow. The amount of time spent on the summit will depend on the weather conditions, but it's recommended to not stay for too long due to the cold and fatigue. After enjoying your accomplishment, you will start your descent, which will take about 3 hours to reach Barafu. Here, you will take a short break and collect your gear before heading to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight stay. This will be a memorable day that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
